View of Konzerthaus Berlin, a concert hall situated as part of Gendarmenmarket Square in the city of Berlin, Germany. Designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, the building was inaugurated in 1821. The structure was badly damaged in World War II and rebuilt in 1977. Built in 1688, Gendarmenmarkt Square was originally a marketplace. Many of the buildings that border the public square were damaged or destroyed during World War II, but today all have been restored.
