| Constructed by Sher Shah Suri, the gate has gained unparalleled notoriety over the centuries, as detailed in my previous post.
The most recent event happened on a cold day of December 2002 when a female student of the nearby Maulana Azad Medical College was dragged into the monument by three men & raped in broad daylight. This event created such an uproar that it was also discussed in the Parliament & the monument was closed for public from then onwards. |
