Boudhanath, also known as Bouddha or Khasti Chaitya, is a stupa located in the outskirts of Kathmandu, Nepal, and is said to entomb the remains of Kassapa Buddha. Its massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in the world, symbolizing the Buddha's path towards enlightenment, with the plinth representing earth, the kumbha (dome)- water, the harmika (square tower)- fire, the spire- air and the umbrella at the top is the void or ether beyond space. |
