| Khao niao sangkhaya or sticky rice with custard, is a traditional Thai dessert prepared with glutinous sticky rice, topped with coconut custard and coconut milk, and wrapped in banana leaves. Widely sold at roadside street stalls, it is served warm or at room temperature. Influenced by Portugese cuisine during the Ayutthaya period, variations of the dessert is also found in other countries in Southeast Asia, such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. |
