Kethek Temple has four terraced terraces where each terrace is connected by stairs. From the front, the shape of the building resembles a pyramid, but has no rooms. The fourth terrace is thought to be where the main building stands. On the bottom step there is a statue of a turtle, which is is an indication of the religious style of this temple.
The name Kethek was given by the local community because many monkeys were often found in this place. From the discovery of statues and the shape of the building in the form of a pyramid-like terrace, like the temples on the western slopes of Mount Lawu, it is suspected that Kethek Temple was built around the 15th to 16th centuries.
