| Kasar Devi Temple is a famous Hindu shrine which sits high at an altitude of 2,116 metres above sea level. This 2nd-century temple is adorned on a hillock overlooking the toy town of Almora. The temple is about 5 km downhill from Tarai Nagri and is surrounded by lofty pine and deodar trees. The Kasar Devi Temple offers a pleasant view of the Almora city and Hawabagh Valley. One can also savour a 360 degree view of the majestic Himalayas peaks. In 1890's Swami Vivekananda came to this temple for meditation. Each year during November-December, the temple hosts an annual fair called Kasar Devi Fair on Kartik Poornima. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
