The The Palacio Nacional de Sintra - National Palace of Sintra - was built by king João I John I 1385 – 1433 on the site of a former Moorish castle. Lavishly decorated with tiles, scenes, gilt, and royal furniture. Notable for two enormous chimneys which were used to remove smoke for the huge kitchen. Views of the town of Sintra and the remains of Moorish ramparts on the hill above.
