The single engine Zero fighter dominated the skies over the Pacific theater at the outset of World War II. It was maneuverable but lacked pilot armor, self-sealing fuel tanks, and the pilot had no parachute. It wasn't too long before the Zero was obsolete and American fighters controlled the skies. |
