Author Jane Austenââ¬â¢s 1775-1817 house in the village of Chawton ,East Hampshire where she spent the last eight years of her life is now a museum. Jane left the house for the last time in May 1817 to take lodgings near her physician in Winchester. She died only a few months later on the 18 July and was buried in Winchester Cathedral. 2017 will mark the bicentenary of her death |
