Israeli mega-star singer/recording artist, Ofra Haza, posing in traditional Yemenite attire, with a scenic backdrop of Jerusalem, was her country`s unofficial cultural ambassador. Her pop songs were influenced by her Yemenite roots, Middle Eastern tonalities and instrumentations and a healthy dose of Western influences. The occasion was a performance for a New York-based local tv show which came to town to publicize and highlight Israel on its 40th anniversary; March, 1988. Haza died at 42 from AIDS-related pneumonia on February 23, 2000.
