| One Indian River Tern (Sterna aurantia) tucks neck in close to body before taking flight from a bare rock by the side of a river near the bird sanctuary Ranganathittu, Mysore, Karnataka, India. It is a pale gray and white tern with yellow bill and the red legs. It has a black cap in breeding plumage. In the winter the cap is greyish white, flecked and streaked with black, there is a dark mask through the eye, and the tip of the bill becomes dusky. |
