Imperata cylindrica commonly known as cogon grass, kunai grass,blady grass,alang-alang,cotton wool grass, kura-kura is a species of grass in the family Poaceae. Red cultivars of the species grown as ornamental plants are known as Japanese bloodgrass.It is a perennial rhizomatous grass native to east and southeast Asia, India, Micronesia, Melanesia, Australia, and eastern and southern Africa.It is used for thatching the roofs of traditional homes throughout south-east Asia,used in traditional Chinese medicine and used as ornamental plants.
