| This is a picture of the historic Old Illinois State Capitol Building located in Springfield. Illinois in Sangamon County. This Capitol building is an example of Greek Revival architecture, it was designed by John Francis Rague, it was built in 1837. This is the fifth Illinois Capitol building, it served as the Capitol from 1837 to 1868. This building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 15, 1966.
