| Igusa Hachimangu Shrine, Suginami Ward, TokyoIgusa Hachimangu Shrine has been enshrined since the Jomon period (794-1185), and is said to have been established as a shrine in the late Heian period (794-1185). It is said that the shrine was originally dedicated to Kasuga Shrine, but the main deity is said to have been Yahata no Okami (the Great God of Hachiman) after Minamoto no Yoritomo prayed for victory in his conquest of Oshu (the feudal domain of Kyushu). |
