Janos Hunyady was a Transylvanian noble, an outstanding military commander, and one of the most significant figures of the 15th century. He was the father of Matthias Corvinus and Ladislaus Hunyadi, and a well-known fighter against the Turks. In 1437, he led his banner army on an anti-Hussite campaign into Bohemia, which earned him the title of Ban of Severin.
