The word phaeton came into Turkish from French and its origins are based on Phaethon, the son of Helios, the sun god in Greek mythology. According to the story, Phaethon receives permission to use his father& x27;s sun chariot; but he loses control of the horses and begins to set the Earth on fire. Zeus strikes Phaethon with a lightning bolt to prevent him from doing further damage. Phaethon falls into the mouth of the Eridanus River, later called the Po.
