The environment of Castrojeriz is one big corn barn, shed, area of cornfields, situated on the plateau the Meseta [during summer it is in this area very hot and dry] and already centuries a part of the camino de Santiago, Frances [Saint-James Way, road to Santiago: a historical tour]. This pilgrims path, trail, track, is listed on the world heritage list of the Unesco and declared the first cultural route by the European Union. Pilgrimage way to the grave of the apostle James in the Spanish city Santiago de Compostela.
