| Burano is an island in the Venetian Lagoon, located 7 kilometers from Venice, Italy, a 42-minute vaporetto journey. Its current population is around 7,000.Its colorful facades are notable, as is the island's only church, dedicated to Saint Martin, whose famous bell tower, recently restored, has been leaning since its foundations, like all of Venice, collapsed on stilts. The island is famous for its lacemaking and is the birthplace of composer Baldassare Galuppi, after whom the island's main street and only square are named. |
