| Calcium deposits can be also be viewed by staining the tissue with a polarizing stain. This is the same kidney section as the alizarin red picture but with a different lens on the microscope. Sometimes the same slide must be viewed many different ways before an accurate diagnosis can be made. In this case the calcium is easily seen (orange) because everything else is dark. This is just 1 example. |
