Fonda had a spectacular 50-year career as a dramatic actor in film, stage, and television. Along the way he garnered many nominations and won two Oscars, one Tony, and a Grammy Award. Two of his children, the late Peter Fonda and Jane Fonda also achieved fame as actors; Peter was also a director. He died in Los Angeles on August 12, 1982 at the age of 77.
