| The Jungfraujoch is a col or saddle between the Monch and the Jungfrau in the Bernese Alps. It is the lowest point on the mountain ridge between Monch and Jungfrau, at 3,471 meters (11,388 ft), and often called the Top of Europe. The Top of Europe is the endpoint of a remarkable round-trip by a modern cogwheel railway, one of European top holiday attractions. There is an elevator to the summit of the Sphinx - the scientific observatory - where a small viewing platform is located. From here there is an impressive view over the snow mass of the Alps in the middle of Switzerland. |
