China's Yunnan Green PeacockMarch 26, 2025. Captured in the national nature reserve of Shuangbai County, Yunnan Province, China, the Yunnan Green Peacock (scientific name: Pavo muticus) is the only native indigenous peacock in China, classified as a key national protected wildlife, currently only distributed within Yunnan Province, with an estimated wild population of about 850 in 2025. They primarily inhabit the seasonal rainforest zones of the middle and upper reaches of the Yuanjiang River valley. As a first-class protected animal in China and an IUCN Endangered (EN) species, the population is gradually increasing due to established protective measures. I used hidden camera techniques and finally captured images of this endangered (EN) species.
