| The Great Banyan tree is the oldest and largest on earth situated at Botanical Garden, Shibpore, Howrah, India. The 271 acre garden was established on 6th July,1787. as Pleasure retreat of East India Company. At present the tree has 1825 parallel stems originated from the main tree. It is not known today which is the main stem of the tree. |
