Grattan Bridge is a road bridge spanning the River Liffey in Dublin, Ireland, and joining Capel Street to Parliament Street and the south quays. The first bridge to be built across the river here was called the Essex Bridge, named after the 1st Lord of Essex, Arthur Capell, who was Lord Lieutenant of Ireland between 1672 and 1677. It is one of several bridges over the River Liffey which help to define the character of this central artery as it winds its way to Dublin Port and the Irish Sea.
