The Gotland sheep is a breed of domestic sheep named for the Swedish island of Gotland. Both rams and ewes have slightly twisted and inverted horns, with strong rifling and distinct ââ¬Ëgrowth ringsââ¬â¢. Ramsââ¬â¢ horns are big and strong while the ewesââ¬â¢ are more slender and delicate. The Gotland Peltsheep pälsfÃÂ¥r or modern Gotland has been developed in Sweden since the 1920ââ¬â¢s through controlled breeding and intensive selection, producing a true multipurpose long wool sheep, yielding good flavoured close-grained meat, furskins and soft silky lustrous fleece.
