Historic and ancient Bosham Church on the coast of West Sussex, England was used by the Viking King Canute to sail out of the harbour. His daughter was drowned here. Later, before Harold Godwinson became King of England, he sailed from here to Normandy and allegedly gave a solemn oath that he would permit William the Conqueror to rule England. The rest is history.
