| Casa del Fauno is one of Pompeii's grandest houses, it was here that early excavators found Pompeii's greatest mosaics. In tablinum there is a white geometric pattern floor, with centre paved with pieces of black, white and green stone. Pompeii was mostly destroyed and buried under 4 to 6 m of ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. |
