Estrela Basilica is one of the most important catholic churches in Lisbon, Portugal. It starts building in 1779 and it is an exemple of the late baroc style with neoclassic elements. The main architects were Mateus Vicente and Reinaldo Manuel from the so called Mafra architects. It was built by decision of the queen D. Maria I. It was built originally as a Convent of Carmelites. The interior is in marble gray, pink and yellow, being iluminated by openings in the imposing dome. Paintings about mysteries of Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Last Supper are from Pompeo Batomi and there are also scupltures of Machado de Castro in the chancel.
