This is a Winter picture of the Gehlen House located in St. Donatus, Iowa in Jackson County. This massive house is constructed out of limestone covered with plaster, it was designed and built by Peter Gehlen an immigrant from Luxembourg, it features a low pitched jerkinhead roof, a walk in basement, and was built in 1860. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 18, 1879. This picture was taken on February 26, 2017.
