Stage, tv, and film actor Fyvush Finkel enjoys the festivities at Jewish Heritage Week celebration in Manhattan on May 12, 1997. Finkel was a star of the Yiddish theater for 35 years. He won an Emmy Award for his portrayal of eccentric Douglas Wambaugh in Picket Fences, in 1994. He also played the role of a crotchety history Harvey Lipshultz in Boston Public. Finkel appeared in the original Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof, in 1964. Early in his career he was a stand-up comedian at the Catskills Borscht Belt circuit. The Brooklyn-born Finkel died at 93 on August 14, 2016.
