Dillenia turbinata is an evergreen tree with thick and robust tender branches and brown hairs The old branches are bald and dark brown when dried. The leaves are leathery, with a rounded or blunt apex, sometimes slightly pointed, and the base is wedge-shaped, with uneven sides. When young, there are soft hairs on the upper and lower sides. Old leaves become bald on the top, slightly glossy when dried, and covered with brown soft hairs below The anthers are elongated, linear, and grow on the side of the filaments. The fruit is nearly spherical, not cracked, and dark red in color. Each mature carpel has one or more seeds. The flowering period is from April to May.
