Fredriksten is a fortress in Halden (the city named Fredrikshald from 1665 to 1928).Defenses with the fortress stands today was built between 1640-45 in conjuction with Hannibal feud. The fortress was begun in 1661 and named afte the Danish-Norwegian king Frederik III (1609-1670). The fortress was besieged six times but never captured.
