The first home game against a home crowd in 15 years. Fortuna Düsseldorf succeeded in being promoted to the German Soccer first division. The first game in the new league, Düsseldorf played away against Augsburg, defeating Augsburg by 2 goals to nil. Both goals were scored by Düsseldorf substitute No 20 Dani Schahin. The game between Düsseldorf and Mönchengladbach ended 0.0. In this photo the teams lineup in the stadium infront of their fans. This game was a so called Geisterspiel as the number of fans permitted to watch the game was restricted to 25000 from Duesseldorf and 5000 from Moenchengladbach. This punishment was handed out due to trouble caused by the home fans during the relegation match at the end of last season against Hertha BSC Berlin.
