Cagliari, Sardinia, May 5, 2025. On seemingly arid land, yet rich in wild vegetation, there are small, deep blue flowers with a purple border in the center. This is Lysimachia foemina, which takes its name from the Macedonian general Lysimachus, who apparently used it for his livestock. The plant is herbaceous, spreading across the ground without forming bushes, and is toxic.
