The trunk is thick and the bark is gray white, with wrinkles on its surface. It usually has supporting roots, and the branches are evenly distributed. The leaves are dark green and about 30 centimeters long. The flowers are trumpet shaped or funnel-shaped, ranging from light purple to deep purple or purple red, often forming large clusters at the top of the leaf axils. Its fruit is a dark brown cylindrical pod that will crack open when ripe, revealing its winged seeds inside.
