In nature, sleep-grass grows on hills, in light coniferous forests or on the edges of mixed forests in Europe, Asia, America, Canada. It is a perennial plant with a powerful rhizome, a low (5–20 cm) stem, dissected at the ends of the leaves and one flower. The flower consists of 6-7 petals of different colors - purple, yellow, white, red, in the center - pistils surrounded by bright yellow stamens. It resembles a bell or even a wild tulip in shape.
