Photo of first generation chevrolet corvair in downtown washington dc on 4/11/15. This car was produced from 1960-1964. It is powered by an air cooled flat six cylinder engine and was offered with manual or automatic transmission. This is the two door coupe. Ralph nader wrote an article called unsafe at any speed criticizing the handling of the car though the national highway traffic safety administration countered with an article that stated the car was just as safe as its contemporaries. Car in this photo has been fully restored.
