California U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein speaks to the congregation at Temple B'nai Abraham in Livingston, New Jersey, in May, 1992. Feinstein was a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors before becoming mayor upon the assassination of George Moscone in 1978, serving a 10-year tenure in office. At the time of her speech, she was 59 and running for her first term in the Senate. She was in 2018, reelected for the fifth time. Feinstein served longer than any female member of the United States Senate, 31 years. She died at her home in Washington, DC, on September 28, 2023. at tje age of 90. |
