Fan vaulted ceiling of Cloisters of Canterbury Cathedral,Adjoining it, on the north side, stood the cloister and the buildings devoted to the monastic life. This is a square, covered walk around a central green space. It would have been used by the monks for contemplation, and the covered walks also provided well-lit areas for reading and writing. The highlight of the cloisters is the superb vaulted roof, punctuated with wonderful painted bosses. A cloister is a covered walk, open gallery, or open arcade running along the walls of buildings and forming a quadrangle or garth. Founded in 597, the cathedral was completely rebuilt between 1070 and 1077.Unesco world heritage site.Kent, UK,August 1st 2016
