Golyama Kamchia is conditionally accepted as the main river. It springs under the name Ticha from the steep, deciduous forested southern slopes of the Lisa mountain, Eastern Pre-Balkan. At first, her path meandered east-northeast through the hilly Gerlovo region. Significantly increased by numerous small tributaries, it forms a picturesque gorge through the Preslavska mountain and under the name Golyama Kamchia enters the hilly Preslavsko-Smiadovska field, Eastern Danube plain.
