| This rare and untouched landscape is home to some of Scotland`s rarest wildlife. The pine forest is part of the ancient post-glacial woodland - the Forest of Caledonia - which is situated on the slopes of the huge mountain, Beinn Eighe, also called Ben Eighe. The post-glacial types of vegetation are birches and pines. The trees and forest floor are home to many mosses, lichens and liverworts. The forest is drained by streams, some of which burst out across the pathways when rainstorms come. |
