One of the best examples of Geological erratics in the UK, is at the limestone plateau at Norber, near Austwick, west Yorkshire. An erratic is an example of older rocks and boulders, being picked up by a glacier, and deposited on much younger rocks, ie, the Limestone. This all happened during the last ice age, where they moved about a mile, but took many thousands of years. The Erratic boulder consists of Silurian Greywhacke stone.
