Pictured is an equestrian statue of Francis II Rakoczi in Kossuth Lajos square in front of the Hungarian Parliament Building in Budapest, Hungary. The Hungarian sculptor was Pasztor Janos. The six foot bronze equestrian statue of Rakoczi on a prancing horse stands on a 4.7 meter base of Swedish granite. It has the Rakoczi coat of arms on the front of the base, and inscriptions on each side. One side in English means `With God for Fatherland and Freedom`. The other side in English means `For the two-hundredth anniversary erected by the Hungarian nation 1935`. Francis II Rákóczi was a Hungarian nobleman and leader of the Hungarian uprising against the Habsburgs in 1703-11 as the prince of the Estates Confederated for Liberty of the Kingdom of Hungary. Today he is considered a national hero in Hungary.
