| The modern spiral staircase is also located in the Pio Clementino Museum, but, although it bears the name of the Bramante staircase, it was not built until four centuries later according to the design of Giuseppe Momo in 1932. Like the original, the modern staircase is built with a double helix, which allows the flow of people to move in different directions without collision. The balustrade along the edge of the stairs is made of iron. A glass dome above the stairs allows light to enter from above. |
