Elz is a rather small river in the Eifel, except when there are season floods. The double waterfall is located in the Eifel near the village Roes, right at Pyrmonter Mühle in the valley below Burg Pyrmont. The waterfall is under the road bridge with medieval roots and a chapel. The waterfall of the Elz can be huge in spring and usually stays big in summer, too. In Summer 2022 the extreme drought reduced the double waterfall to two tiny streams showing the rough rocks underneath. The lake below stayed tiny and still offers fish a shelter in the dry river phase.
