Okaukuejo Waterhole & Resort is so perfect for an ArmChair Wildlife Lout! For the whole day, he/ she can just lazily languish at the waterhole, on the comfort of a wooden Bench padded with mattresses from the room, shoot endless images of Avians & Mammals, all the while sipping a coffee or a Beer, depending upon whether he is shooting handheld or on Tripod! The permanent waterhole is floodlit in the nights & there is an almost endless procession of wildlife coming to the hole through out the day. On the very first day of our stay here, we were fortunate to witness a huge Mammoth Mela of Pachyderms come in to the waterhole, as soon as the sun went down. The elephants kicked up dust, as they thirstily rushed in for their evening quench. The setting was perfect with the sky turning a burning saffron. To watch the Alpha Male from a distance of a cricket pitch, flap his ears a few times whilst regally marching in, without losing eye contact with you, notwithstanding the wired fence & the safety wall in between us, was a goose bump moment alright.
