Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, is located on the South Bank of the Gulf of forth in the lowlands of central Scotland. It covers an area of about 260 square kilometers. Founded in 1329, it was the capital of the kingdom of Scotland from 1437 to 1707. Edinburgh has a long history and many historical buildings have been well preserved. Edinburgh Castle, Holly Luther palace, St. Giles cathedral and other attractions are located here. Edinburgh`s old city and new city are listed as world heritage sites by UNESCO.
