| IxoraÃÂ is aÃÂ genusÃÂ ofÃÂ flowering plantsÃÂ in theÃÂ familyÃÂ Rubiaceae. It is the only genus in the tribe Ixoreae. It consists of tropical evergreen trees and shrubs and holds around 562 species.[1]ÃÂ Though native to the tropical and subtropical areas throughout the world, its centre of diversity is inÃÂ Tropical Asia.ÃÂ IxoraÃÂ also grows commonly in subtropical climates in the United States, such asÃÂ FloridaÃÂ where it is commonly known asÃÂ West Indian Jasmine. Other common names includeÃÂ viruchi,ÃÂ rangan,ÃÂ kheme,ÃÂ ponna,ÃÂ chann tanea,ÃÂ techi,ÃÂ pan,ÃÂ siantan,ÃÂ jarum-jarum/jejarum,ÃÂ jungle flame,ÃÂ jungle geranium,ÃÂ cruz de MaltaÃÂ among others.
