The Double crested cormorant, Nannopterum auritum, is truly a very unique water bird.
First, it is not completely water proof the way most water birds tend to be. Because of this, they must spend most of their time with their wings spread completely open, just to dry themselves.
They can also bend their neck completely backwards.
