| Changgyeonggung palace in Seoul city, South Korea. (Changdeokgung Palace Complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site). The palace was built in 1394 by the Korean architect Jeong Do-jeon. Partly burned during the Japanese invasion of 1592, it was abandoned due to the difficulties of restoration until the 1860s, when it was rebuilt as a complex of 330 buildings with 5,792 rooms. A symbol of the Korean royal family, it covers an area of 410,000 square meters. |
